Raymond James welcomes team managing half a billion dollars in assets in Wilmington, North Carolina

Strong culture, technology platform attract experienced financial advisor team

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Raymond James welcomed financial advisors Charles Mintz, Timothy Gray and Wren Mintz, CFP® to Raymond James & Associates (RJA) – the firm’s employee advisor channel – in Wilmington, North Carolina, according to Deborah Cicatelli, Mid-South regional director for RJA.

The team, which operates as The Cape Fear Group of Raymond James, joins from Truist Investment Services, where they managed approximately $500 million in client assets. Joining them at Raymond James are Emily Harvey, senior registered client service associate, and Ellen Heckert, senior service associate. Together, the team serves a variety of clients, including business owners, families and individuals, healthcare professionals and retirees.

“We chose Raymond James for its deep rooted culture of putting clients first and for its commitment to providing easy-to-use industry-leading technology tools,” said Gray, senior vice president. “Its ability to not only attract but retain advisors speaks volumes about the firm and its high-touch support.”

Charles Mintz, managing director, began his career in 1981 with Wheat, First Securities and later became the president and co-founder of Fox, Graham & Mintz Securities, which in 1990 was acquired by Scott & Stringfellow. After serving as the firm’s chief administrative officer and chief financial officer, in 1997 he was appointed executive vice president and director of the Private Client Group and elected to the board of directors of Scott & Stringfellow Financial. In 2003 he returned to his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina, to focus on his advisory business serving high-net-worth clients. Charles received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and his MBA from University of Georgia.

Gray began his financial career in 2005 as a regional private banker with Wachovia Bank and Wachovia Securities. He joined Truist’s predecessor firm, BB&T Wealth, in 2010 as a private advisor, later partnering with Charles to create The Cape Fear Group in 2013. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Montreat College.

A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional and vice president, Wren Mintz began his career in 2012 with Truist’s predecessor firm, BB&T Scott & Stringfellow, in the Raleigh, North Carolina, office and joined The Cape Fear Group in Wilmington in 2015. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in finance, from North Carolina State University.

“As we continue to build on our presence in Wilmington, North Carolina under the leadership of Raleigh Complex Manager John Pace, we are very pleased to welcome such an outstanding team of financial advisors to Raymond James,” said Cicatelli. “We are very proud that the culture and distinguished support at our firm continues to be attractive to top financial advisors like the Cape Fear Group, and others who are looking for an elevated client, financial advisor and team experience.”
